Robert and Val have worked and lived in London for more than 25 years, settling by the river in Rotherhithe.
Robert will maintain a focus on the role charities play in society, often as a catalyst to bring about change and a voice for those whose views are not being heard. His interest in political change and representation will probably be in evidence.
Val will select our photographs and also highlight the family history she’s traced back over five hundred years, turning up some fascinating connections. Our roots are mainly in England but with sailors and watermen in the family it’s not surprising that voyages and the sea play a part. Family members have also worked in mills and on the land, many staying close to their roots in Pennine towns and villages. Today, like many families, we have family members living in this country and across the world.
We’ll also take a look at how novels and poetry can reveal what might remain unseen and unnoticed. We will share some favourites, many of them writers with London connections.
